Why people choose Balico
Bali opens up to those who are ready to travel independently. A bike here is not just transport, but a way to feel the island’s rhythm: narrow roads between rice terraces, climbs to temples on the hillsides, descents to hidden beaches. Renting a bike or scooter gives you the kind of mobility that taxis or tourist buses cannot offer. You can stop anywhere, turn onto an unnoticed path, and reach places cars cannot get to.
Balico delivers bikes wherever you are. Delivery is available across the island: Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, Uluwatu, Ubud, Sanur, Denpasar, Nusa Dua. The fleet is updated regularly - every model is serviced before each rental. Two rental options are available: without insurance and with insurance, so you can choose the format that suits you.
Choosing the Right Bike
A 110-125cc scooter is suitable for short rides around town, beach areas, and nearby locations. It is a convenient option for everyday transport in Bali: economical, easy to handle, and well suited to the island’s traffic.
If you plan to ride more often between different areas, take longer routes, or simply want more comfort, it makes sense to choose a more powerful model. These bikes perform better on climbs and are more comfortable for longer rides.
Yamaha XSR suits riders who feel confident on a manual motorcycle and prefer a bike with a manual gearbox. Yamaha Xmax 155cc is a comfortable option for those looking for a more practical model for everyday rides and medium-distance routes.
Rental Costs and Duration
Daily rental starts from 110,000 IDR. The longer the rental period, the lower the daily cost: weekly and monthly rentals are more выгодны in terms of price per day. If you rent a bike for several days or longer, delivery terms depend on the area and the handover time.
The price includes two helmets and raincoats. There are two insurance options available - rental without insurance and rental with full insurance. Payment is accepted in cash upon delivery or online by card. No deposit is required. A courier brings the bike at a convenient time from 10:00 to 17:00 and picks it up within the same time window. If you need delivery outside these hours or outside the standard zone, it is charged separately.
Geography and Routes
Bali is compact, but very diverse. From Canggu to Ubud is about an hour’s ride, to Uluwatu from the south about half an hour, and to Mount Batur about two hours. A bike lets you build your own routes without depending on tour group schedules.
The northern coast is less touristy: black-sand beaches, fishing villages, and hot springs. The east of the island offers rice fields, Tegenungan and Tibumana waterfalls, and traditional Balinese homes. The central part with Ubud is the cultural heart: art galleries, Goa Gajah temple, and Tegallalang terraces. The south is about the beaches of Seminyak, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and the Uluwatu temple on the cliff.
Roads in tourist areas are generally good, but narrow. In villages, the asphalt can be damaged in places. During the rainy season, secondary roads may be affected by soil washouts. Average speed is not high - usually around 40-60 km/h, so even an inexperienced rider can feel comfortable.
What to Know Before Renting
Officially, in Bali you need either a local Indonesian category C license for motorcycles or an international category A license. Police checks happen regularly, especially in tourist areas. If you do not have a license, you may get fined. If you have questions about documents, Balico managers can tell you where to go and what to arrange.
Traffic is left-hand. It feels unusual for the first half hour, but then you adapt naturally. The key rule on the road is attentiveness. Local drivers may change direction without signals, pedestrians may step onto the road, and dogs often lie on the roadside. In traffic jams, passing on the right via the oncoming lane is considered normal.
Gas stations are easy to find. Fuel is sold at official Pertamina stations and in small roadside kiosks - where it is usually poured into bottles, though the quality may be lower. A full tank on a scooter is enough for about 150-200 km depending on engine size and riding style.
Technical Condition and Maintenance
All bikes in the Balico fleet undergo regular technical inspection. Before every rental, brakes, tires, lights, and oil level are checked. If a technical issue appears during your trip, just message support. The company will arrange a repair or provide a replacement vehicle.
Minor damage such as scratches does not require complicated discussions if you have full insurance. If a serious accident happens, you need to take photos, record the circumstances, and send the information to the manager. After that, the company handles the situation.
Practical Matters
A bike is convenient for solo travelers and couples. The storage under the seat fits a medium-sized backpack or helmets. If you need to carry more things, you can choose a model with larger storage space or secure a bag to the rear seat with straps.
Parking in Bali is paid at shopping centers and tourist locations. The cost is usually symbolic - 2,000 to 5,000 IDR. Villas and hotels often have their own parking. You can also leave the bike on the street, but for safety it is better to lock the handlebar.
Raincoats help, but during a tropical downpour you can still get soaked. If you see dark clouds, it is better either to wait at a café or put on waterproof clothing in advance. After rain, roads become slippery, especially on corners and on sections with oil stains.
